Exclusive interview on The World of Lord Russell Podcast Talk Show

@jimmy__cricket exclusively on The World of Lord Russell PodCast Talk Show on Wednesday 27th September 2023

Jimmy Cricket is giving an exclusive interview on a podcast, to be aired on Wednesday (27 September).

The famous funnyman stars as a special guest on The World of Lord Russell PodCast Talk Show.

No timing has been provided for the show, but the interview should appear on Lord Russell’s podcast page here.

Lord Russell Baker’s website describes him as a “philanthropist, explorer and bon vivant”.

It says he has fundraised for several charitable organisations in his home county of Norfolk and beyond.

Famous names

The website adds: “Lord Russell is an enormously respected figure amongst many of the leading professional sportsmen and women in such diverse sports as football, snooker and darts.”

Some of the famous names he has worked with include ex-England, Ipswich Town and Glasgow Rangers captain Terry Butcher.

The list also features former world snooker champions Steve Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Ex-world champion darters John Lowe, Eric Bristow and Keith Deller have also worked with Lord Russell.

Autobiography

Don’t forget that Jimmy Cricket’s autobiography is on sale.
Memoirs Of An Irish Comedian is priced at £11.99 as a paperback.

It is also available as an ebook priced £9.99 (unless you have subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, in which case it is free).

Amazon Kindle allows users to read ebooks purchased on Amazon.

Jimmy has said he is happy to sign copies of the book at his live shows, where they are available for a discounted price of £10.

The autobiography tells the heart-warming story of his 50 golden years in showbusiness – told in his own words.

He is recognisable for wearing a funny hat and green wellies marked L and R on the wrong feet.

And he proudly keeps his comedy clean – increasingly rare these days –  making him the perfect family entertainer.

The book is available from online retailer Amazon here.

Mary’s Meals

His best-known catchphrases include ‘And there’s more!’ and ‘Come closer!’

He is famous for reading out Letters from his Mammy, which have provided the material for two published books.

One pound from the sale of every book goes to Mary’s Meals.

The charity supports feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.

Christmas podcast to raise money for children’s charity 150 150 mhamer

Christmas podcast to raise money for children’s charity

Jimmy Cricket is producing a special festive podcast in aid of his favourite charity.

The Northern Irish comedian is recording the half-show Christmas show in front of a live audience this week.

It will be made available as a podcast for people to listen to from Thursday (8 December).

Christmas podcast to raise money for children's charity

Performing along with Jimmy are his wife May Marion and Jonathan Young (from The Bachelors), both professional singers.

The variety show, comprising comedy, songs and sketches, will be part of one of the regular ‘jam’ nights in Jimmy’s adopted home of Rochdale.

Famous Northern Irish funnyman Jimmy and May have for about 15 years hosted a regular night of entertainment and charity fund-raising at a local parish centre.

It provides an opportunity for Jimmy, May and other performers to try out new (and relive some old) routines.

They began it on a monthly basis and in the past few years have alternated hosting the jam nights with their good friend and fellow entertainer Eric Devereaux.

It takes place in the lounge area of St Vincent’s RC parish centre in Norden.

They often invite special guests who perform free of charge.

There is a raffle and the selling of refreshments, with all proceeds donated to a chosen charity.

‘Wee bit different’

The popular comedian has nicknamed those who regularly support these evenings as ‘Jimmy’s Jammers’.

Tuesday (6 December) is the next charity night, when the Christmas show will be recorded.

Francis House Children’s Hospice, for whom Jimmy has raised many thousands of pounds over the years, will benefit from proceeds of the podcast.

Jimmy said Tuesday would be a “wee bit different”.

He added: “I’m doing half-hour show called The Jimmy Cricket Christmas Variety Special.

“As well as the show being performed to the audience on the night, it will be recorded and put out on podcast to be heard until the end of December.

“What makes it doubly exciting is that I’ve got together with Francis House Children’s Hospice.

“For anyone who does tune in, we’re asking them to make a small donation towards the charity.

“Big or small, they will all be warmly accepted.”

People can contribute here.

Jimmy urged his friends and fans: “Why not listen via my website from Thursday, the eighth of December, and make a small donation to help raise much-needed funds for Francis House?!

“Merry Christmas everyone!”
