Return to Norfolk theatre named after the late Princess Diana

My thanks to Editor Elaine Bird @hunny_bird for printing my article about the history of the Princess Theatre in that lovely seaside town of Hunstanton, and how it was named after the late, "Diana Princess of Wales", whom I had met once while doing a Royal Variety Show!

Jimmy Cricket is returning to a theatre named after Princess Diana – whom he once met.

The famous Northern Irish funnyman, 73, will be back performing at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton, Norfolk, on Sunday (7 July).

Diana, Princess of Wales, was the first wife of Prince Charles and the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry. She died in a car crash in a Paris tunnel on 31 August 1997.

On his imminent return at the weekend, Jimmy posted the photo above on social media, saying: “My thanks to Editor Elaine Bird @hunny_bird for printing my article about the history of the Princess Theatre in that lovely seaside town of Hunstanton, and how it was named after the late, “Diana Princess of Wales”, whom I had met once while doing a Royal Variety Show!”

Treats in Norfolk for the audience… & performers!

Jimmy Cricket plays the saxophone with instrumentalist Rachel King

Jimmy Cricket headlined a splendid show in rural Norfolk in late June.

It was the well-known entertainer’s third visit to the North Walsham Community Centre and on all three occasions the organiser behind each show has been local man Colin Jeary.

Colin is a great advocate and supporter of the centre, and often arranges special events at this much-loved rural venue.

Jimmy, 70, lined up alongside female vocalist Eve Bridger and instrumentalist Rachel King (all three are pictured bottom).

Rachel plays the saxophone as part of her armoury and this enticed Jimmy to get his saxophone out to allow the two of them to play a duet at the end of the show (top).

The song they chose was a rendition of the classic Morecambe and Wise theme tune Bring me Sunshine.

And so it was a splendid summer evening filled with treats not just for the members of the audience, but also for those performing on stage!
