It’s goodbye X (formerly Twitter), hello Bluesky!

Great to be on 'BlueSky' and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!

Some ‘Bluesky’ thinking has resulted in Jimmy Cricket switching social media platforms.

Along with Facebook and LinkedIn, the famous funnyman also had a presence on X, formerly Twitter.

However, following a mistake by X which led to Jimmy’s account being accidentally deleted, he decided to use it as an opportunity to leave.

He said: “Great to be on ‘BlueSky’ and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!”

As with X, users can share short posts containing text, images, and videos on Bluesky.

Jimmy will be posting regular jokes on the platform, which is owned by Bluesky Social PBC.

It began in 2019 as a research initiative at Twitter, before becoming an independent company in 2021.

Development for the social app quickened in 2022 following Elon Musk’s controversial acquisition of Twitter, which has since alienated many people.

Bluesky launched as invitation-only service in February 2023 and then opened registrations in February 2024.

It reportedly reached 20 million users by November last year.

In the same month, it experienced its largest user exodus since Musk bought the platform in 2022.
