Willie reached two World Championship quarter-finals during his career.

Known as Mr Maximum, he was the third player to reach the landmark of 100 centuries.

Jimmy and May enjoyed dinner with Willie and others during a trip to Spain in February (see the photo top).

The Northern Irish comedian tweeted: “In memory of Willie who sadly passed away today, here is a short interview he did with our great mutual friend, (while living in Spain), the compere/singer/comic ⁦@steviespit.”
