Wonderful, warm audience for Northern Ireland tour opener

I’ll be doing a three-day theatre tour of Northern Ireland with my fellow Irish comedians: Roy Walker, Adrian Walsh, Gene Fitzpatrick and George Jones

Jimmy Cricket and three fellow Irish comedians are currently in the middle of a three-day Northern Ireland tour.

The funny quartet, which also includes Roy Walker, Adrian Walsh and Gene Fitzpatrick, performed at the McNeill Theatre in Larne last night (21 March).

Jimmy said afterwards on social media: “What a wonderful, warm audience for our first night of our tour for @DavidHullPromo at the McNeill Theatre in Larne with funny men, fellow comics, @Gene17Eugene@adrianvwalsh and @RoyWalkerLegend and the great showband ‘Clubsound’ with Geordie Jones.”

Photos and video of the event can be found on Jimmy’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

The next show takes place tonight (Friday 22 March) at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

And then tomorrow the funny four will perform at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine.

The David Hull Promotions website says: “Northern Ireland has produced some great comedy acts.

“In an evening of classic comedy we have some of the finest: Roy Walker of Catchphrase fame, Jimmy Cricket ‘Come Here There’s More’, Gene Fitzpatrick ‘the star of the County Down’ and the comedy master that is Adrian Walsh.

“Musical accompaniment and laughter from the comedy showband legends Clubsound.”

Jimmy’s Christmas card for this year

Hi folks, it’s me, Jimmy, come closer!

As we approach the end of 2023, I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came out to see me at one of my live shows this year, and who bought my new autobiography which came out on the first of April.

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the exciting things that will be happening in 2024…

There’s nowhere quite like Blackpool and next March I’ll be playing my ninth season at the lovely Lyndene Hotel on the promenade.

The four dates there next year are as follows:

  • Wednesday 6 March
  • Wednesday 5 June
  • Wednesday 4 September
  • Wednesday 4 December.

Also in March I’ll be going back to the Cabaret Lounge in Hull for my fifth appearance for owners Paul and Bev – on Sunday 17 March (St Patrick’s Day of course!).

And to round off a great month, I’ll be doing a three-day theatre tour of Northern Ireland with my fellow Irish comedians Roy Walker, Adrian Walsh and Gene Fitzpatrick.

The dates for that are:

In July I’ll be doing two shows for my favourite television channel – Talking Pictures – at the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth, Wales. For anyone who can’t get to the actual shows, they will be televised.

I’ll keep you in touch with these shows and any others on this website via the Tour Dates section.

In the meantime, my wife May and myself wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Yours Truly

Jimmy

Memorial concert to Frank Carson 150 150 mhamer

Memorial concert to Frank Carson

Jimmy Cricket is to feature in a memorial concert to the late, great Northern Ireland comedy legend Frank Carson.

Frank sadly passed away at the start of 2012 and the fitting tribute will be held at the Grand Opera House in Belfast on Thursday 28 February, just over a year after his death. Frank Carson

The hosts for the charity gala will be James Nesbitt, Patrick Kielty, Lenny Henry and Gloria Hunniford.

Entertainer Jimmy, who was also born in Northern Ireland, will pay his own personal tribute alongside a cast which includes Roy Walker, Dana, Dennis Taylor, Barry McGuigan, Kiki Dee, Pat Jennings and Dame Mary Peters to name just a few of the celebrated personalities who will take part in this gala evening.

Frank Carson’s family had always planned to hold a concert to commemorate Frank’s life and have asked producer Ian Dougan to put this event together.

Proceeds from the show will benefit two of Frank’s favourite charities – the Integrated Education Fund and CLIC Sargent’s Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal.

Jimmy says: “I am honoured to have been asked to participate in this show. I expect the event to be a tremendous celebration of Frank’s life, remembering his outstanding contribution to the world of entertainment.”

Enjoying the vintage times

Jimmy Cricket and Karl of the Vintage Corporation BandIt was vintage stuff in more ways than one when veteran comedian Jimmy Cricket performed in Maidstone last Saturday.

The famous Irish comedian appeared on stage with the magnificent and very accomplished Vintage Corporation band whose members all come from the Kent region.

Jimmy was also on stage with the band last autumn at the Hawkinge Community Centre in Folkestone. This time it was the Hazlitt Arts Centre in Maidstone.Poster for the show involving Jimmy Cricket and the Vintage Corporation Band

The band, who recreate the sounds of the 60s and 70s, have worked with many comedians, including  Tom O’Connor, Mick Miller, Roy Walker and the Grumbleweeds.

The photo at the top of this page is of Jimmy with Karl, the lead singer of the Vintage Corporation Band.

Jimmy had just returned backstage from his usual mad dash to the theatre’s foyer to sell copies of his DVD when Karl bumped into him – which is why he is carrying a box in the photo!

Jimmy performed with the Vintage Corporation Band

Jimmy Cricket teamed up with a Kent-based group on a night of great entertainment in Folkestone.

He appeared with the Vintage Corporation Band at the Hawkinge Community centre in a show which proved a big success in front of a large crowd.

The Band are a great 60s and 70s party and function band, and with nine members they certainly produce a great musical sound.

And they were up for doing a musical ensemble with Jimmy who performed a rendition on his saxophone of Tequila with them.

The Vintage Corporation Band have been putting music and comedy nights on around the Kent region.

In the run-up to working with Jimmy, the band had just appeared at a nearby theatre with Tom O’Connor. They are also working with Roy Walker in the lead-up to the Christmas season.

Jimmy hopes to work with the band in 2012 because the evening was such a great success.
