Talking Pictures TV: Jimmy to star at Festival of Film

One of my favourite TV channels is Talking Pictures. I'm pleased to say I'll be performing on their live roadshow at the beautiful Plaza Cinema near Crosby on Sunday the 9th of October,

Jimmy Cricket is one of the special star guests at the TV channel Talking Pictures roadshow near Liverpool in October.

The famous Northern Irish funnyman teams up with fellow celebrity guests at the event in Waterloo on Merseyside.

Please bring your ticket to gain entry – no tickets are available on the day.

Event organisers say there is limited availability.

Plaza Community Cinema hosts the roadshow.

Promotional information for the event says: “The day’s entertainment is a celebration of film and TV history, with celebrity hosts, special star guests and a matinee or evening picture plus lots of short films and lost TV episodes and films on the big screen.

“The Plaza Community Cinema, Waterloo, opened on 2 September 1939 but was immediately closed again that same day due to regulations introduced by the outbreak of war!

Orient Express

“Following the reopening two weeks later, the cinema offered full film programmes and live variety entertainment from well-known artists such as Tommy Handley, Arthur Askey, Charlie Chester, Ted Ray and Hylda Baker.

“In October 1995 there was local outcry when plans were announced to redevelop the cinema site.

“Local people came together to campaign and raise funds to rescue the cinema, which resulted in a charity being formed.

“Through local fundraising and volunteer support, the Plaza has been lovingly restored to pristine Art Deco-style glory.

“Even the seats are upholstered with fabric rescued from the Orient Express!”
