Special guest at Irish cabaret, dance and buffet night

Famous funnyman Jimmy Cricket is performing again at the Lancashire theatre where he recorded his DVD.
Jimmy Cricket Live – Pull Your Seats Forward was created by the popular comedian’s family company, Wellie Boot Productions, in 2010 at the Royal Court Theatre in Bacup, Lancashire, near Jimmy’s adopted home of Rochdale in Greater Manchester.
And the Northern Irish entertainer returns to the venue on Sunday – St Patrick’s Day – for one of his Great Value for a Tenner comedy shows.
Belfast-born Jimmy produced the DVD in response to the overwhelming public clamour that suggested there was a real demand for a recording of his stand-up entertainment.
The DVD is an hour and 10 minutes long and includes Jimmy’s favourite routines, a phone call and letter from his mammy, his famous Leaving Home poem, his sentimental ballad called I’m Dreaming of a Far off Land and 20 minutes of extras.
Around 8,000 copies of the DVD have been sold, which is particularly impressive as it is not available in retail outlets; it can only be bought via the Go Shopping page on this website or at one of his live shows.
Jimmy posted on social media this week: “Looking forward to my return to the Theatre were I recorded my DVD nine years ago @BRCTheatreGroup for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations this coming Sunday with Dansworks Dance Academy and a few Irish songs from Mrs C. ”

Jimmy Cricket returned to The Plaza variety theatre in Stockport at the weekend to do his fourth show there.
Other acts included Shep’s Banjo Duo and dancers from the Stockport-based Debut Arts academy.
The famous comedian, 72, had last performed there in January 2016 and was clearly delighted to be back.
Afterwards he tweeted: “Wonderful Sunday afternoon @StockportPlaza1 performing alongside Howard and Steve, Shep’s Banjo Duo, Debut Arts Academy, with Ted Doan Manager and actor who took the lead in the, “The 3 Tenner Sketch”, my thanks goes to Stage, Sound and Lighting, Lawerence, Ben and Pam.”
Famous Irish comedian Jimmy Cricket is gearing up for a busy St Patrick’s Day period, which is now just over a month away.
Traditionally the St Patrick’s period during the middle of the month of March is always a time of the year when entertainers associated with Ireland are rarely out of demand!
Often the day itself (17 March) falls in midweek, allowing individuals who mark the celebration room to organise events both the weekend before and the weekend after.
This year, St Pat’s day falls on a Friday, which means for famous comedian Jimmy a nine-day stretch where he is down to appear in no fewer than six engagements!
The full list of Jimmy’s whereabouts over this year’s St Patrick’s Day period is as follows:
– Saturday 11 March – Lyndene Hotel, Blackpool
– Sunday 12 March – Ladies festival hosted by the Chelsea Lodge in London
– Monday 13 March – Mill Rythe Holiday Village, Hayling Island
– Friday 17 March – Potters Holiday Village, Lowestoft
– Saturday 18 March – Lyndene Hotel, Blackpool
– Sunday 19 March – The Delmont Hotel, Scarborough
Veteran comedian Jimmy Cricket is going international during the remainder of 2016.
Jimmy, 70, has plans to entertain in Spain during June, in Cyprus through September and in the Republic of Ireland in November.
His trip to the Costa Blanca during the first week of June involves appearances at The Emerald Isle and the Madhouse, both located in the Orihuela district of the Alicante region.

Then in September, Rochdale-based Jimmy will team up with Richard & Adam – who both featured in the 2013 series of Britain’s Got Talent – to tour some of the wonderful venues located in and around the lovely Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
The famous entertainer’s visit includes an appearance at the Pissouri Amphitheatre (pictured above) in the Limassol region of the island. For tickets to all of these Cypriot shows, please visit http://www.lyceumproductions.eu/
Jimmy will travel to County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland towards the backend of the year.
On Saturday 5 November, he will bring his stand-up comedy show to the Balor Arts Centre in Ballybofey. He was last there eight years ago in the old venue, which has since been replaced by a brand new facility.
Belfast-born Jimmy is looking forward to returning to the venue as last time it was a full house! For tickets, please visit http://www.balorartscentre.finntech.ie/
Jimmy Cricket’s recent performance at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley, Leicestershire, was captured on film.
Matt Holt took these photographs, which are courtesy of MGL Media.
It was the second of two variety shows, which well-known entertainer Jimmy did with Midlands crooner Michael George.
The other one took place at the Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, seven days earlier.
They each featured Michael, his wonderful eight-piece band, his troupe of dancers, a supporting female vocalist, and comedian Jimmy as the special guest star.
The Concordia Theatre show is an annual event, which Michael holds each year to raise money for charity, with all proceeds going to Leicestershire-based Hope Against Cancer.
Jimmy said: “I enjoyed working with Michael at both the Gainsborough and Hinckley shows and found his enthusiasm for performing just wonderful to see.”
A special poster has been produced to publicise the 5K charity fun run being organised to mark Jimmy Cricket’s 70th birthday in October.
The event is being arranged in Jimmy’s adopted hometown of Rochdale in Greater Manchester by a seasoned run organiser called Andy O’Sullivan, who is not only associated with the local Rochdale Harriers running club, but who has also been awarded the MBE for all the fundraising he has done over the years.
Famous Northern Irish entertainer Jimmy will turn 70 on 17 October 2015 and his birthday race will take place the following day.
The location of the start will be the Cock & Magpie pub in Whitworth, near Jimmy’s beloved Healey Dell Nature Reserve where he is often spotted walking and taking in the beautiful surroundings.
He will be there in person to start the race off at 11.30am, with the route planned to take in two laps of Cowm Reservoir, ensuring the race will be a true 5K.
Jimmy said: “A big thank you to Rachel – one of the charity’s trainee fundraisers – for producing a nice flyer for the event (above right).
“Naturally, I will be on hand to start the race off outside the Cock & Magpie public house and welcome back the winners after two laps of this stunning water feature. I will also hand out the prizes in the Cock & Magpie once all runners are safely back home.”
All proceeds from the fun run will be donated to one of Jimmy’s favourite charities, which is the Francis House Children’s Hospice in Manchester.
The entry fee to join Jimmy on this fun race is £4 to club runners and £6 to all others. An additional £1 will be charged to entrants who turn up on the day. Prizes will be awarded to all race finishers.
