Houghton Weavers singer Tony Berry was ‘kind, loving and a true gentleman’
Jimmy Cricket has paid a warm tribute to Houghton Weavers lead singer Tony Berry who died last week aged 69.
Tony passed away on Thursday evening following a prolonged and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Northern Irish entertainer Jimmy said: “Tony Berry was indeed a pleasure to know! He was kind, loving and a true gentleman!
“On stage he had a fine voice and a warm personality. He helped to make the Houghton Weavers one of the best folk groups in the country! R.I.P. old friend!”
Tony’s band mates David Littler, Steve Millington and Jim Berry announced his passing with a special tribute on their website.
