Autobiography also now available on Amazon Kindle!

Jimmy Cricket’s autobiography can now be read using an electronic device as well as being available in paperback.

The Jimmy Cricket Story is the famous comedian's official autobiography

Memoirs Of An Irish Comedian officially went on sale in April.

Initially, it could only be bought as a paperback book (£11.99).

However, it is now also available as an ebook priced £9.99 (unless you have subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, in which case it is free).

Amazon Kindle allows users to read ebooks purchased on Amazon.

Jimmy laughed: “So you can help save the planet and have a giggle at the same time!”

The book is already highly rated on Amazon.

One reviewer, who gave it five stars out of five, said: “Greatly enjoyed Jimmy’s life story and long, tough route into show business.

“Some very amusing incidents, some sad ones too.

“This is not a short book but it kept my attention throughout.

“100% recommendation.”

Clean comedy

Jimmy has said he is happy to sign copies of the book (though sadly not the e-version!) at his live shows.

The autobiography tells the heart-warming story of 50 golden years in showbusiness – told in his own words.

Jimmy said he hoped it would “bring back warm memories for older readers”.

He added: “And [it] gives a taste to younger readers of a form of entertainment that seemed to vanish before our very eyes.”

Recognisable for wearing a funny hat and green wellies marked L and R on the wrong feet, Jimmy has been making people laugh as a professional comedian for half a century.

And he proudly keeps his comedy clean – increasingly rare these days –  making him the perfect family entertainer.

The book is available from online retailer Amazon here.

Mary’s Meals

His best-known catchphrases include ‘And there’s more!’ and ‘Come closer!’

He is also famed for reading out Letters from his Mammy, which have provided the material for two published books.

One pound from the sale of every book goes to Mary’s Meals.

The charity supports feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.

Suarez song goes global

I was bit by Luis Suarez is a song by Jimmy Cricket

Jimmy Cricket’s new song, I was bit by Luis Suarez, has gone worldwide since its release over all digital outlets a week ago.

In addition to being available at  iTunes, Amazon and Tesco, it has even been spotted on a Taiwanese online music store!

Jimmy Cricket's I was bit by Luis Suarez

And media coverage of the song,  which is based on the Uruguay and former Liverpool striker who was banned for four months for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup in Brazil this summer, has been far and wide too.

As well as being featured in the Daily Mirror and in its sister publication, the Irish Mirror, Jimmy’s tune has made it to Africa and to the United States of America.

For anyone interested in an actual CD copy of the song, it can be purchased for £2.50 by ringing the record label Rolling Tear who are the distributors. They can be contacted on 07931 528435.

And there’s more – the B side for the single is a karaoke singalong version of the song!

Jimmy said he was thrilled about the response so far, adding: “I have just been blown away with the interest that has been generated by this comedy song.

“I thought it was such a huge topic during this year’s Brazil World Cup that I just had to have a go at writing a funny take on the story. I am thrilled it has created a bit of a stir and the global attention is something I did not really expect at all!”

To watch the video of the song, visit Jimmy’s video channel at YouTube here.

And you can pre-order  I was bit by Luis Suarez at iTunes.

A retired fireman and The Original Wag

The Original Wag by Graham AshworthJimmy Cricket is mentioned in the foreword of a new book by a Rochdale-born novelist.

The famous entertainer was presented with his own personal copy of The Original Wag by author Graham Ashworth. Jimmy features in the book and his contribution is also acknowledged.

Graham was a firefighter with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service before retiring in 2009. His first novel was Man O’ The World, which was released in 2013 and The Original Wag is his second.

Amazon, the popular retail website, says: “Both books mirror extraordinary life through the medium of fictional biographies. Nostalgia, humour and a gritty way of life feature prominently to create a welcome journey down Memory Lane.”

Graham now lives in Rossendale, Lancashire, with his wife Dawn. He is currently working on a third novel, the details of which will be revealed shortly, and is a regular contributor to Rossendale’s Life magazine.

Belfast-born Jimmy, who has lived in Rochdale for many years, said: “I wish Graham the very best with this book as it has an interesting theme and I hope many people get to read it!”
