Jimmy Cricket was presented with a special cake at a show in Staffordshire.

The famous entertainer was performing at Hednesford Ex Serviceman’s Club in Cannock – an event that had been rescheduled due to the bad weather earlier in the year.

And afterwards, the comedian posted on Twitter: “Great night at “The Soldiers Club”, Hednesford, with organiser Chris Warsop with the fabulous band called ”Touch”, with big thanks to my Facebook friend Julie Dolphin for this wonderful cake she made and presented to me!”

Jimmy Cricket could not be at the funeral of his late friend Jim Bowen – but paid tribute to him on Twitter.

Broadcaster and comedian Jim, best known for hosting darts-based game show Bullseye in the 1980s and ’90s, died on 14 March at the age of 80.

And Jimmy posted a link to a story about Jim on social media, saying: “For those who like me, who sadly missed the funeral of the great comic/host Jim Bowen here is a dedication to the day!”

The article, in the Westmorland Gazette, said: “Family and friends said their last goodbyes to north Lancashire broadcaster and comedian Jim Bowen at Beetham Hall Crematorium in the South Lakeland Countryside.

“Mr Bowen, who was best known as the host of darts-based game show Bullseye in the 1980s and 1990s, used to live in a now-disused Victorian house at the old railway station in Arkholme and was a former owner of the village’s Redwell Inn.”

A statement posted by the official Bullseye Facebook page said: ‘The celebration of Jim’s life was attended by close family and friends and was a heartwarming, loving and incredibly moving send off for Jim.

Jimmy Cricket welcomes news on Sir Ken Dodd

Jimmy Cricket pays tribute to Sir Ken Dodd

Jimmy Cricket has expressed his delight at the news that close friend and fellow comedian Sir Ken Dodd has returned home after six weeks of treatment for a severe chest infection.

The 90-year-old funnyman, whose great career spans seven decades, was admitted to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital on 12 January, but left on Tuesday surrounded by his Diddymen.

And Jimmy said on social media channel Twitter: “So good to see Sir Kenneth coming out of hospital yesterday with his Diddy Men by his side.

“I’m sure he’ll go from to strength to strength and it won’t be long before he’ll be treading the boards again, waving his tickling stick and filling us all full of plumpsishness.”

Jimmy is pictured above paying tribute to Sir Ken (far right) when he was honoured with a lifetime achievement award last year.

Jimmy Cricket’s comedian daughter Katie Mulgrew featured on BBC Radio 4 Extra’s The Comedy Club Interviews series recently.

Katie (pictured below right), who has performed three solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, was interviewed by BBC presenter Tom Wrigglesworth.

She won the inaugural 2015 Liverpool Hope play-writing prize with her play Omnibus.

It was staged at the Unity Theatre in June 2017 in a co-production with the Liverpool Royal Court to rave reviews.

Famous entertainer Jimmy Cricket went to see one of his favourite musicals in Manchester recently.

The 72-year-old comedian watched Guys and Dolls at the Royal Exchange Theatre earlier this month.

Guys and Dolls started at the Exchange on 2 December last year and finishes on 3 February.

Jimmy posted on social media channel Twitter that he was “excited” to be at the Royal Exchange to enjoy one of his all-time favourite musicals.

Jimmy Cricket posted a thank-you message on Twitter after his Christmas show at the Square Chapel Arts Centre in Halifax, West YorkshireJimmy Cricket expressed his thanks to all after thoroughly enjoying his Christmas show at the Square Chapel Arts Centre in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Friday’s event also featured pianist Roger Stevenson, songwriters Cath Binns and Angus MacGregor, festive songs from the Halifax-based Sing for Fun ladies group and Christmas cheer from the local talented performers of the Stage Door Studio Theatre Workshop.

Afterwards, Jimmy posted a message on social media channel Twitter saying it had been a “wonderful evening”.
