Irish entertainer Jimmy is appearing from 5 August to 4 September at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton.

He said: “I’m really excited about the summer as currently the Princess Theatre is going through a major revival in its fortunes.”

The show, the Great British Seaside Special, will also feature the multi-instrumentalist Ian Larkham, the balloon-modelling skills of Bob Wooding and the seaside special company of talented singers and dancers. The show will be directed and choreographed by Ian’s wife, Michelle.

The show is produced by theatre manager Brian Hallard, who was instrumental in the reopening of the theatre last year. Brian is really thrilled the relaunch of this important Hunstanton attraction got off to such a great start during 2012 and he is looking forward to a successful summer season during 2013.

“His enthusiasm was infectious and I’m really looking forward to the summer season at the Princess.”

The show is scheduled for every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Ticket prices range from £11.50 to £13.50, with children £7.50 and senior citizens £11.50 to £12.50. They can be booked online at www.princesshunstanton.co.uk or via the box office on 01485 532252.

First, they visited the Corn Exchange Theatre in Ipswich and then went to King’s Lynn the following day.

After the Ipswich date the entire company travelled to a village called Long Sutton, which is near King’s Lynn, in preparation for the next day’s show.

On their arrival at Long Sutton, they all had a meal together at the nearby Ship Inn.

Jimmy Cricket was asked to do a little bit extra when he launched his summer season plans for the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton.

The well-known Irish comedian also relaunched the seaside resort’s newly refurbished Tourist Information Centre with the local mayor.

This local tourism facility has been renovated at a cost of £100,000 and is part of a continued renaissance of Hunstanton. The revival in the resort’s fortunes has seen the theatre reopened and under new management.

The show is scheduled for throughout August and into the first week of September.

Jimmy said: “Hunstanton is an idyllic resort on the stunning Norfolk coastline and the town is successfully reviving the fortunes of its theatre.

“This is because it only reopened a year ago and this will  only be the second summer season the new theatre management have arranged.

“But the profile of the theatre is increasing and the town is getting behind it. This means the summer of 2013 for the Princess Theatre should be a cracker!”

The show is called the Great British Seaside Special and above right is Jimmy with a life-size image of him for one of the front pillars outside its main entrance. And he is pictured top with dancers from the show, trying on his legendary wellies for size! The show will be scheduled each week for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and, as well as evening performances, there will also be family-friendly matinee shows.

Why did Jimmy sleep on park bench? 150 150 mhamer

Why did Jimmy sleep on park bench?

Jimmy Cricket sleeping on park bench to raise awareness about the homelessFamous comedian Jimmy Cricket has been pictured sleeping on a park bench as part of a campaign to raise awareness about homelessness.

The Rochdale-based funnyman wanted to support the local ‘Chill-Out’ campaign in the town.

The Chill-out group has been concerned about cuts by the Labour-led council which would have see emergency bed provision for the homeless cut from about 500 beds to around 160 and plan their own mass ‘sleep-out’ at Rochdale Town Hall.

Those cuts would also see the introduction of a ‘Dial-a-Bed’ policy for those seeking emergency accommodation.

The Chill-Out group is apolitical but has attracted support from politicians of all parties, including Labour, plus others including concerned members of the public and medical staff.

Its protest was set for Tuesday 29 May to coincide with Rochdale Council’s cabinet meeting with the intention to raise the profile of the issue through peaceful action. Supporters of the campaign were due to meet outside the Town Hall and sleep overnight in tents to highlight the plight of the homeless.

Jimmy read an article in the local Rochdale Observer and thought the ‘sleep-out’ was a great idea.

Unfortunately, it clashes with his summer season at Eastbourne, but he still wanted to show his support so he decided to get a photo of himself sleeping on a park bench in the middle of Rochdale Town Centre!

The night before these photos were taken, Rochdale Council made a number of concessions in relationto its homeless policy in response to the ‘Chill-Out’ campaign.

These pictures are now going to be used for a slightly different purpose because instead of raising awareness, they are now going to be used to highlight this change in approach from Rochdale Council.
