Our next production of the Comedy will be @bridspam this coming July folks! The latest staging of Jimmy Cricket’s comedy play went down very well – and there are more performances on the way!

No more Fiffing and Faffing had such a highly successful debut last September at the Blackburn Empire Theatre, that it has resulted in a tour around the north of England, including at The Met in Bury earlier this year.

Its latest performance was last Sunday (19 May) at the Chorley Little Theatre in Lancashire.

The play will also be performed at the Bridlington Spa (18 July) – see above right – and the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight on The Wirral (6 October).

Veteran comedian Jimmy wrote the play and also stars in it, along with Jonathan Young from The Bachelors and actor Colin Meredith, who has appeared in ITV’s Coronation Street.

After the Chorley show, Jimmy tweeted: “Our thanks, from myself and Jonathan and @ColinMeredith52 and Clive goes to Ian and Estelle @ChorleyTheatre and Paul who was on sound and lighting, for today’s two performances of Fiffing and Faffing! ????”

One spectator took to social media to say: “@jimmy__cricket and @ChorleyTheatre That was a great afternoon of entertainment. Laugh a minute, very enjoyable and worth the trip from Rochdale. Great stuff Jimmy & Co. ???? ???? ????“

Jimmy Cricket’s comedy play is on the road again today (Sunday) and there are still some tickets available.

No more Fiffing and Faffing had its debut last September at the Blackburn Empire Theatre and it is being performed later at the Chorley Little Theatre in Lancashire as part of a North of England tour.

Veteran comedian Jimmy wrote the play and also stars in it, along with Jonathan Young from The Bachelors and actor Colin Meredith, who has appeared in ITV’s Coronation Street.

There are two performances today – at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Jimmy Cricket’s play, No more Fiffing and Faffing, received some very positive comments on social media following its latest performance.

The Met in Bury hosted the play – which had its debut last September at the Blackburn Empire Theatre in Lancashire – on the first leg of a tour of northern England.

It will also be performed at the Chorley Theatre (19 May), Bridlington Spa (18 July) and Gladstone Theatre on The Wirral.

All-round entertainer Jimmy, who wrote the play, also appears in it, along with Jonathan Young from The Bachelors, and actor Colin Meredith, who has made several appearances in ITV’s Coronation Street over the years.

One person posted: “Went to the met theatre in bury to watch one of my favourite comedians Jimmy Cricket amazing thanks Jimmy.”

Another said: “I went also, very funny, enjoyed it.”

It will be followed by performances at the Chorley Theatre (19 May), Bridlington Spa (18 July) and Gladstone Theatre on The Wirral.

Jimmy Cricket and his new play have been the focus of an article in the Lancashire Telegraph.

The Lancashire Telegraph previewed the play in Bury and highlighted Jimmy and Mrs Cricket’s strong connections to the town.

The article begins: “Comedian Jimmy Cricket will be continuing his special relationship with Bury when he showcases his new play, No More Fiffing and Faffing, at the Met later this month.

Set at the end of the pier, it’s the tale of a comedy double act who prepare for their final performance after many years on the road together.

As the final show looms, long-held resentments come to the fore.

Jimmy was inspired to write the show, in which he also stars, after seeing the success of fellow comedian Bobby Ball’s first steps into writing for the stage.

No more Fiffing and Faffing was premiered at the Empire Theatre, Blackburn, last year and Jimmy is delighted to be bringing it to Bury.

‘Mrs Cricket and I have a strong connection to Bury,’ he said revealing that he and his wife May had their first home in the town on Wash Street less than a mile from the Met.

The couple were married in Bury in 1974 having met at Pontins when Jimmy was a Bluecoat and May was a waitress in the restaurant.”

Famous comedian Jimmy Cricket has been promoting the first leg of his touring play at a shopping centre in Greater Manchester.

No more Fiffing and Faffing, which got a great reception from the audience on its debut last September at the Blackburn Empire Theatre in Lancashire, will now be performed at The Met in Bury (23 February), Chorley Theatre (19 May), Bridlington Spa (18 July) and Gladstone Theatre on The Wirral.

Jimmy, who wrote the play, was at the Mill Gate Shopping Centre in Bury at the weekend to  let the people of the town know all about the Wellie Boots production.

Hi everyone! With the New Year comes my January 2019 @leponline column for you to have a little read at!

Jimmy Cricket has been telling Lancashire Evening Post readers about his eventful festive trip to Bruges and giving them an update on his new play, No More Fiffing and Faffing.

The popular Northern Irish comedian’s first LEP newspaper column of 2019 was published on 7 January.

He wrote: “I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and you didn’t lose any sleep over Brexit.

Speaking of which, I went to one Christmas party and we did the Brexit Hokey Cokey – it was in, out… and we didn’t know what to do after that.

And there’s more. I did hear one story about Christmas morning that a friend told me – his seven-year-old was opening his presents when suddenly he shouts across the living room floor: “Dad, I think Santa Claus has moved house.”

My somewhat surprised pal says: “What makes you think that son?”

“Because,” says the boy, “It says on this toy. Made in China.”

As I didn’t have a panto, I was able to have a more restful festive season.

Christmas in Bruges is delightful. The fairy lights and decorations that surround the market have a unique style, especially when lit up at night. You have to make sure you have your thermals on because it can be a bit nippy. Of course, there’s always a nice restaurant nearby ready to fortify you with a hot chocolate.

In the daytime you can stroll over bridges with flowing rivers for company and drink in the gorgeous Belgian architecture.

Local inhabitants love their bicycles, and you can see folk of all ages cycling along their merry way.

All right, here’s a clue.

The name begins and ends with R. Of course, it was cheap. But that was the only positive thing it had going for it. Although we were lured into going Priority, it didn’t stop the security guys rifling relentlessly through our cabin luggage. Saying a tearful goodbye to your shaving foam at 4.30am in the morning at Manchester Airport isn’t the most pleasant of starts to a holiday.

Although I did get to keep the aftershave lotion, but it was a close shave.

We didn’t really strike it lucky with the hotel, either. Two lights weren’t working in the bedroom. A wheel was missing from the bottom of the bed. The kettle in the room wasn’t working.

Just when you think it can’t get any worse it did. The toilet was blocked.

The next morning, armed with an extensive list of repairs, we headed downstairs.”
