Jimmy Cricket is urging everyone to contribute to Comic Relief on Red Nose Day.

The famous Irish comic was at the studios of BBC Radio Ulster recently helping to promote the big fund-raising event which takes place on Friday (15 March).

Comic Relief is a major UK charity set up in 1985 which strives to create a just world free from poverty, raising awareness and money through activities based around entertainment. its two big fundraising campaigns being Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.

The entertainer will again perform with Clubsound on the second leg of the tour, which is being promoted by Northern Ireland’s leading entertainment promotions Company, David Hull Promotions, from 18 to 20 April.

Jimmy said: “I encourage everyone to donate to Comic Relief and hope everyone will enjoy whatever fundraising activities they are involved with for this great cause!”

Jimmy Cricket is appearing with Clubsound in Northern IrelandJimmy Cricket will again team up with Northern Ireland’s favourite showband when he returns to the land of his birth this spring.

The Belfast-born entertainer is appearing alongside Clubsound on a tour which is spread over two legs. The first leg is scheduled for between 28 February and 2 March and the second from 18 to 20 April.

The six venues are spread throughout the province and the tour is being promoted by Northern Ireland’s leading entertainment promotions Company, David Hull Promotions.

Rochdale-based Jimmy said: “I am very excited about returning home to Northern Ireland for this tour – it has been a few years since I last visited some of these venues.”

Jimmy Cricket is appearing with Clubsound in Northern IrelandHis last visit to Northern Ireland was hailed a huge success, when he opened Belfast’s new comedy festival Belly Laughs at the Black Box venue in the city last September.

He added: “I am thrilled to be sharing the stage with Clubsound as I have worked with them in the past and think they are a talented musical outfit.

“I am especially delighted to be renewing a friendship with the lead vocalist of Clubsound, George Jones, who has also been a local radio presenter for a number of years.

“And I am also pleased to be teaming up with David Hull again, whom I first worked with over 25 years ago when he first got launched on national television.”

Jimmy Cricket already has an exciting 2013 lined up.

And you can see him live on stage at a nearby venue – or on television.

Highlights of the coming year include:

– Appearing in Sky1’s new comedy series called John Bishop’s Only Joking, scheduled for January and February

– A  return to the open seas as he is making an appearance on P&O’s Aurora cruise ship where he will feature in a leg of the ship’s world cruise during February between Honolulu, the southern-most major US city, and Papeete, capital of French Polynesia in the Pacific Ocean

– Featuring in a tour of Northern Ireland with the legendary comic showband, Clubsound – this show has proved so popular that the tour’s promoter has had to arrange a second leg!

– Headlining a national Music Hall Tour, which will visit places such as Nottingham, Cardiff, Ipswich and Tunbridge Wells to name just a few

– Appearing at Dave’s Comedy Festival in Leicester during February

–  Headlining the summer season show at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton, Norfolk, over the main six-week holiday period

– Continuing to tour with his Value for a Tenner show, with dates at Bathgate, New Brighton, Whitley Bay and Bungay already lined up for next year
