Veteran comedian Jimmy Cricket is going international during the remainder of 2016.

Jimmy, 70, has plans to entertain in Spain during June, in Cyprus through September and in the Republic of Ireland in November.

His trip to the Costa Blanca during the first week of June involves appearances at The Emerald Isle and the Madhouse, both located in the Orihuela district of the Alicante region.

For more information on Jimmy’s appearances there, go to https://www.facebook.com/emeraldislelf and https://www.facebook.com/pages/Matrix-Madhouse/399223050228664

Then in September, Rochdale-based Jimmy will team up with Richard & Adam – who both featured in the 2013 series of Britain’s Got Talent – to tour some of the wonderful venues located in and around the lovely Mediterranean island of Cyprus.

The famous entertainer’s visit includes an appearance at the Pissouri Amphitheatre (pictured above) in the Limassol region of the island. For tickets to all of these Cypriot shows, please visit http://www.lyceumproductions.eu/

Jimmy will travel to County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland towards the backend of the year.

On Saturday 5 November, he will bring his stand-up comedy show to the Balor Arts Centre in Ballybofey.  He was last there eight years ago in the old venue, which has since been replaced by a brand new facility.

Belfast-born Jimmy is looking forward to returning to the venue as last time it was a full house! For tickets, please visit http://www.balorartscentre.finntech.ie/

Golden Wellie award goes to Belfast Cathedral dean 150 150 mhamer

Golden Wellie award goes to Belfast Cathedral dean

Jimmy Cricket presents Dean John Mann with the Golden Wellington award for FebruaryJimmy Cricket has awarded the Golden Wellington award for February to Dean John Mann of St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast.

The well-known Northern Irish comedian presented the accolade to Dean Mann when he participated in a special service in the cathedral at the start of last month.

Jimmy’s role was to help distribute cheques to chosen charities from the money donated by the public during the latest Black Santa Sit Out in December.

The Black Santa tradition at Belfast Cathedral was started by Dean Sammy Crooks in 1976. Concerned at the emphasis being placed on necessary and costly building programmes at the cathedral, he decided to stand on the street in front of the building and beg for the poor and charitable causes.

With a small barrel in which donations could be placed, and dressed in the familiar black Anglican clerical cloak, Dean Crooks “sat out” each day of the week before Christmas. This started the tradition of Belfast’s Deans sitting out for charities. The local press described Dean Crooks as Belfast’s Black Santa and the description stuck.

The Golden Wellie is an award Jimmy created several years ago based on his trademark wellington boots.

Although it is a bit of fun in some ways, it also has a serious side as Jimmy uses the publicity from the award to acknowledge a good deed or significant contribution to a community.

Jimmy Cricket with Aer Lingus Air stewardessesJimmy Cricket is taking part in the 2016 edition of the You Must Be Joking tour, the first leg of which was at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

In the comedy show, which is aimed at the audiences of Northern Ireland, Jimmy features alongside three fellow renowned Northern Irish comedians, John Linehan (AKA May McFettridge), Gene Fitzpatrick and William Caulfield (all are pictured below right).

The tour was born out of the 2014 Cookstown Comedy Festival, as the line-up was put together for the first time there with huge success. Not only did the show gel and all four comedians complemented one another really well, there was a full house too!

This merited a full tour of the province in 2015, with this year’s events continuing the interest in the show and its popularity.

After the first  2016 date in Belfast, a slight gap in the tour schedule appeared before the remaining six dates. This has allowed Jimmy to get back to continue his commitments at the Lyndene Hotel in Blackpool where he has a spring season.Jimmy Cricket with fellow renowned North Irish comedians, John Linehan (AKA May McFettridge), Gene Fitzpatrick and William Caulfield

When Jimmy arrived at George Best International Airport in Belfast city centre to catch his return flight to Manchester, he bumped into several Aer Lingus air stewardesses (pictured above right) – one of them had been to see the 2015 tour and her grandparents had been to see this year’s opener at the Grand Opera House.

The rest of the dates for the 2016 tour are as follows:

·         Thursday  4 February – Millennium Forum, Derry

·         Friday 5 February – Theatre at the Mill, Newtonabbey

·         Saturday 6 February – Island Hall, Lisburn

·         Thursday 11 February – Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen

·         Friday 12 February – Market Place Theatre, Armagh

·         Saturday 13 February – Riverside Theatre, Coleraine

Jimmy Cricket to appear on BBC Northern Ireland’s Nolan Live

Stephen Nolan - Jimmy Cricket is appearing on his BBC radio show

Jimmy Cricket is going to appear on BBC Northern Ireland’s popular current affairs television show Nolan Live on Wednesday, June 3.

It is presented by Stephen Nolan (above) – a name that might be familiar to readers as he is often heard on BBC Radio 5 live presenting the station’s evening programme at the weekend.

Stephen Nolan's programme is called Nolan Live

Stephen’s TV show in Northern Ireland is a mix between topical debate and chat – he holds a panel discussion during one part of the programme, with the other section devoted to talking to a special guest. The first programme in this current series featured Peter Stringfellow,  the British businessman and nightclub owner.

Nolan Live has built a significant share of the viewing audience over several series and is now one of the most popular shows that BBC Northern Ireland produces for its home audience.

Famous entertainer Jimmy said: “Not only will I be having a chat with Stephen about what I am up to currently, but I have also been asked to perform some comedy stand-up and this is an opportunity I’m relishing.”

Jimmy Cricket will be teaming up with the world-famous Osmonds for a special Christmas tour later this year

Jimmy Cricket is teaming up with several of the world-famous Osmonds for a special tour of the UK later this year.

The well-known Northern Irishman comedian will be a special guest for the series of shows, called the Andy Williams Christmas Spectacular, throughout the month of December.

The Osmonds are an American family music group with a long and varied history as star performers.

They started their musical careers as children and achieved further success as teen-music idols, going on to produce a hit television show and also perform as solo and group artists.

The Osmonds group first comprised brothers Alan, Wayne, Merril and Jay Osmond. They were later joined by younger siblings Donny – the most famous of all of them – and Jimmy. Their only sister Marie, who rarely sang with her brothers at that time, launched a successful solo career in 1973.

Jimmy said: “The month of December has traditionally meant pantomime time and this tour will be quite a departure for me.

“Nonetheless, it is an exciting prospect and I cannot wait to team up with the Osmonds, who have a global following and reputation.

“Although I love the art form of pantomime and the attraction it holds for children and families, I have thought for some time that there should be an alternative offering out there over the Christmas period.

“This show fits the bill perfectly and the atmosphere at each venue will be so uplifting that those in attendance will definitely leave in the Christmas spirit!”

Tickets for the tour will go on pre-sale from Wednesday morning (March 25), with tickets on general sale from Friday.

The Irish comedian & the Midlands crooner 150 150 mhamer

The Irish comedian & the Midlands crooner

Jimmy Cricket joins Michael George at the Concordia Theatre Hinckley in Leciestershire on Saturday 23 MayJimmy Cricket has been asked to team up with Midlands crooner Michael George for two special shows in May.

It will mean an evening of great swing music combined with Jimmy’s inimitable style of comedy. There will also be a live band and some great support acts lined up.

One production will be at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley, Leicestershire, near to where singer Michael George is based. In fact, it is becoming an annual tradition for him to bring a show to the Concordia Theatre as this is the third time he will do so.

Each of the previous two shows have been very well attended, so everyone is expecting a packed auditorium when Jimmy joins Michael for this year’s version on Saturday 23 May.

Virtually the same production will visit the Trinity Arts centre in Gainsborough a week before the Concordia one as both Michael and Jimmy head there on Saturday 16 May.
